New Units

This Week in 1/2K

Many of our units are coming to an end.  This week will be the beginning of new Science, Math and Social Studies units.  It is a five day week without any special events so we should be able to get a lot done.

As usual, please watch for homework assignments coming home in the Star Bag.  Thank you for working with your child to complete homework and reading on a daily basis.

Spring Tea

Thank you to everyone who helped with and came to the spring tea.  It was nice to see so many students with their families in attendance.

Spring is here!

Social Studies

We are just beginning a new Social Studies unit about the Community.  Students will learn about maps and globes.  They will also learn about their own communities.  One of the things they need to know for this unit is their own address.  Watch for materials coming home which need to be completed as homework.  It will be a fun unit!

Spring Tea

Be sure to stop in at the Spring Tea on Saturday.  There are many vendors to check out, as well as a great served lunch.  Tickets are available at the office, or at the door.

Upcoming Dates:
April 19 KidProof Safety registrations due
April 20 PIP Meeting
April 22 Booster Juice Day
April 23 PD Day
April 24 Spring Tea

Routines

Now that we have had a week to recover from spring break we need to settle back into regular routines.  Please remember to check your child’s agenda and star bag every night.  Students should be recording their reading each day.  We will be starting new units at school and it is important that homework and assignments are completed on time.

Scholastic Contest

Some time ago all the students in our class entered Scholastic contests.  The grade ones designed a dinosaur book cover and the grade twos wrote about bullying.  Nicole was selected as a grade one winner.  She is one of ten students across Canada who received a Mark Teague library, a gift certificate for herself, and a gift certificate for the classroom.  Congratulations Nicole!

Upcoming Dates:
April 12 Board Meeting, Last day for Show and Save
April 16 Scholastic Orders Due
April 19 KidProof Safety registrations due
