Year End?

End of Year?
I can hardly believe this is the last week of school. I don’t know about you but I’m not ready for it! This has been a fabulous year! This week we will wrap everything up, send everything home, and make some time for fun too!
Books
Please take some time to check for school and classroom library books at your home. Several library books have not yet been returned. We are also missing a number of titles from our classroom library. Thank you!
Portfolios
Although there are no student-led conferences this term students are working at filling their portfolio binder with items from term 3. All other pieces of student work will be sent home this week. If you have questions about any of your child’s work please contact me.
Summer Birthday Celebrations
For students whose birthday falls during the summer months we will plan a celebration day over the next two weeks. As usual, you are welcome to send a simple snack to distribute during snack time, but do not feel obligated to.
Helena June 23
Marina June 27
Samantha June 28
Fiona June 29
Year End Party
Our year end celebration party will be during the morning on June 30. Students are welcome to bring a snack to share with the class if they would like to. I will provide the drinks for the students.

Animal Projects
Our Manitoba Animal Research projects are almost complete! Please watch for them to appear on display in the chapel area.
Zoo Trip
To complete our Science unit we will be taking a trip to the zoo. Students will go on a hunt to find various types of animals. This will be an all day trip. We will need parent volunteers to supervise small groups of students for the day. We will have a picnic lunch so students will need to bring a bag lunch with them. Please clearly label the lunch bag. We will place all the lunches into a cooler for the morning.
Bean Plants
We have been growing bean plants in our classroom for a couple of weeks now. They are quite tall and need to be transplanted soon. There are both red and green beans growing in the cups. I am sending them home with your child to transplant. Perhaps you will enjoy a few beans in the fall. J

Flat People
If we have not yet received your child’s Flat Person back could you please try to touch base with the recipient to ensure that it will be returning. Hopefully the mail strike will not last too long so that the rest will return before the end of June. Thank you!
Reading Records
Reading homework is the most important homework assigned to Grade 1 and 2 students. Reading is a skill which must be practiced on a daily basis. The number of students handing in reading records has significantly dropped during the last month. So, for the month of June each student will be given a Reading BINGO card to complete. For each line (vertical or horizontal) completed students can earn a prize. The more lines they complete, the more reading prizes they will receive!
