Last Week of May

This past week the Grade 2 students each completed a mini graphing project. They chose a topic, created a question with appropriate options and then collected data. They created a graph with a title, labels and the data. Take a closer look.

Our study of Nunavut is going very well. We are working on putting all of the new vocabulary we have learned into a word bank book. Some students have even taken the challenge to put the words into alphabetical order. When unsure of a word we used the iPads to look them up.

This week:

Friday: read-a-thon packages are due

Parent Appreciation

I hope that this blog post finds you well rested after a fabulous long weekend.

This week will be an exciting week! On Wednesday we are celebrating Parent Appreciation at our school. The students, and teachers, have all prepared various treats and surprises for you to enjoy. If you are able to attend chapel on Wednesday we have a special presentation prepared for you. If not, we will post the video on the blog for you to enjoy.

Watch for our Nunavut art going up in the hallway this week. We have learned so much about life in the north of Canada.

This week Grade 2s will finish their graphing projects. They have worked hard to create questions, collect data and present their findings.

The Grade 3s are beginning a short unit on Geometry. They are bringing home their fraction tests today for their parents to see.

There will be a spelling test this week, even though it is a short week. Everyone received their new word sort on Thursday.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Have a fantastic week!

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope that everyone had some time to celebrate Mother's Day. The students all had stories to share about their celebrations today. They spent the morning writing about their weekends on their blog pages.

We had loads of fun making our gifts last week too!

Last week we also completed our paper art flowers. First we painted paper bags. Then we cut the brown paper bags into spirals. We carefully put the spirals together to form a flower. We used bright colours to create a 3D piece of art. What do you think?

Grade 3s have been working hard at learning Fractions in math class. Here are some Fraction Flowers. Can you tell which one is two elevenths pink?

This week we will launch the annual Read-A-Thon in chapel on Wednesday. Watch for the fundraising information and envelope to come home that day. There are some beautiful prize baskets in the school already.
