Happy Easter! He is Risen!
Projects
This week we will for sure finish our Science projects, as well as our Flat Stanley writing assignments. There are just some finishing touches left to complete. Thank you again for all your help and support with these learning opportunities.
Running Club
You may have recently heard about running club. Students in Grade 1 and 2 are able to participate if they have an adult with them during running club times. We run at 8am on Tuesday and Thursday morning.
Spelling
Please be sure to study spelling words every day. The challenge words are getting harder and many students need to practice them regularly. The list of words can be found in the homework folder each week.

Science
Huge thanks for sending in recyclable materials for our unit end project! Students are working at building an object using 3 different materials and appropriate fasteners. They will be able to identify characteristics of their object, as well as its function. I can’t wait to see the finished products.
Social Studies / Language - writing
Thank you for sending in an address for our Flat Stanley project. We are doing the finishing touches on our letters this week. I hope to mail all of the Flat People by the end of the week!

April 4

I hope that everyone enjoyed a great Spring Break!  It is finally beginning to look like Spring outside!  Rubber boots are definitely a must for the playground area!

Science

We recently began a science unit about Materials.  So far we have enjoyed learning about the difference between an object and the material it is made from.  Next we will be working on the function of objects and how their materials are chosen to make the object efficient.

Social Studies / Language - writing

Our next writing project will be integrated together with a social studies unit.  We will be learning about various parts of Canada by writing to our relatives that live in other cities.  To start the project we read the Flat Stanley book.  We now are going to create our own flat people to send in our letters to our relatives.  Watch for further information, and flat people coming home!

Agendas / Reading Logs

These two items are still part of our daily routines!  It is important to teach students organizational skills and responsibility at an early age.  I feel that these two tools help with that process.  Thank you to those of you that do use them consistently!  I hope to see everyone using them for the final term of this year!
