Artist in the School

I Love to Read Month is coming to a close this week.  It sure has been an exciting month full of many different learning opportunities and new experiences.  I do hope your child has been sharing some of their memories with you at home.  Thank you for being supportive of all the activities this month as well!

This past week CLWR came to collect the We Care Kits that our class put together during the month of January.  Again, huge thanks to everyone who helped out with this project.

For Valentine's we did a devotion series on God's love.  Here are some of the thoughts that our devotions were focused on.

A couple more pictures from 100 Day.  Using groups of 10 to represent 100.

Some of the pictures from the Boat building project last week were missed.  Here are the rest:

This past week we worked on more story telling strategies.  Here is our class vine that we created.  The students all made their own vines as well.  It was a great way for them to identify the most important events in a story (beginning, middle, end) and put them into the correct sequence.

This week in the Technology Lab we created our own Tagxedos.  Students explored the many options available to using words and graphics to create a poster, card, or sign.  All of the websites that we use during Technology classes can be found in the side bar of this blog.  Please feel free to explore them further at home.  Some of them have excellent activities for extra practice at home.

I Love to Read Week!

Grade 2s are jumping into a math unit which will take them into double digit addition and subtraction.  Here are some pictures of building and representing numbers to 100.  We are on our way to mastering these skills!

I love to read week is full of exciting events!  Students will be reading, writing, and engaging in a variety of hands on activities to explore story telling.  Watch for more details, and pictures, next week.

Our Science unit on Solid, Liquid and Gas has taken us to an exploration of sinking and floating.  This week we will test out our creations to see which design can hold the largest load, and remain floating.

Valentine's Day - students are encouraged to bring in Valentine cards.  Anyone choosing to bring in cards needs to bring one for each student in the class.  Students were asked to make a list of their classmates names on Friday.  If you require a list please let me know.  If you are sending edible Valentine treats please ensure that they are nut free.  Thank you!

Chapel on Wednesday  - Each class will be performing a skit in chapel on Wednesday.  You are welcome to join us at 9am.

Please refer to the pink February calendar that was sent home for all other special events happening this month.
